Aimee Shalan, Co-Director of Makan and Chair of the British Palestinian Committee, addresses the Palestinian Mission to the UK’s event commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba in London.
The event took place on Friday 12th May at Central Hall in Westminster, London, where the United Nations General Assembly held its first meeting in January 1946.
Shalan discusses the expulsion of her grandfather from the city of Haifa in 1948, Britain's historical and ongoing role in supporting Israel's Nakba against the Palestinians, the increased suppression around Palestine on the streets and in the classroom and also questions the mindset of those ardently defending Israel in spite of its blatant abuses against the Palestinian people today.
