London, 18 March 2025 – The International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP) has announced the launch of “Global 195”, a worldwide legal coalition dedicated to holding accountable Israeli and dual national individuals alleged to have committed war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Speaking to Palestine Deep Dive, ICJP Director Tayab Ali says, “There shouldn’t be a safe space for them anywhere in the world where they can go without fearing prosecution.”
The initiative establishes a global network of accountability, spanning four continents, which will ensure that domestic and international legal mechanisms are utilised to pursue individuals suspected of war crimes, wherever they may be. The coalition will simultaneously work within multiple jurisdictions to apply for private arrest warrants and initiate legal proceedings against those implicated.
Israeli soldiers who have served in the Israeli army during Israel’s ongoing 16-month onslaught on Gaza have so far largely enjoyed impunity and have even reportedly been spotted holidaying and partying in large groups in countries including Brazil and India.
Asked whether members of the public should assist the authorities in gathering evidence against suspected Israeli war criminals, Tayab says:
“They shouldn't put themselves in danger that's for sure. We're talking about engaging with people suspected of carrying out the most heinous acts against civilians—men, women and children—so there is a danger issue there.”
But Ali does say that any evidence provided by the public would be welcomely received by ICJP:
“We need intelligence, we need information, we need evidence so if people come across information, if people come across information about who is involved in various war crimes, who is admitting to it openly, who is bragging about it—if those conversations are recorded and sent to us then we'll add those to our intelligence database our evidential database and we can use those.”
The scope of Global 195 includes individuals who have fought in the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), as well as figures spanning the entire Israeli military and political chain of command, from senior policymakers to operational personnel, who are directly or indirectly responsible for violations of international law.
